Business card website with AI: what goes on it and what it costs
An AI builder can produce a business card website from a single message: you say who you are, what you do, what it costs and how to reach you, and you get a working page with a link you can send to a client the same day. The real work is collecting the facts about your business before you start. This guide covers the blocks a one-page site needs, how to describe them and what it costs in credits.
What is a business card website, and who needs one?
A business card website is a single page that answers three questions in about thirty seconds: what you do, roughly what it costs, and how to get in touch. There is no catalogue, no customer account and no cart. Its job is narrow on purpose: turn a curious visitor into a call, a message or an enquiry.
The people who get the most out of one are sole traders and small local businesses. A plumber, a wedding photographer, a tutor, a therapist in private practice, a nail technician, a small café, a bookkeeper working from home. A common trigger is a business that has lived on Instagram or Facebook for years until a client, a supplier or a bank asks for "your website". The social profile stays, but a dedicated link looks more established, reads better on an invoice and is easier to say out loud over the phone.
A multi-page site makes sense once you have several services with different audiences. Until then, one good page does more than five thin ones.
Which blocks does a business card website need?
The set below covers almost every freelancer and small business. It is easier to delete a block later than to remember the one you forgot.
| Block | Why it is there | What to write in your prompt |
|---|---|---|
| First screen | say who you are and where, in two seconds | "Emergency plumber covering south Leeds" |
| Services and prices | answer the main question before the call | "Boiler service from £80, leak call-out from £60" |
| Examples of work | show results instead of promises | "gallery of six photos, I will attach them" |
| About | give a reason to pick you | "Gas Safe registered, 12 years, same-day visits" |
| Reviews | let clients say it for you | "three short reviews, I will paste the text" |
| Contact and map | remove the last obstacle | "call button, WhatsApp button, address with map link" |
| Enquiry form | catch people who hate phoning | "form: name, phone, best time to call" |
Look at the right-hand column. Every line is a fact, not a mood like "modern and clean". AI is good at inventing a layout and bad at guessing your prices, your area and your credentials. Anything it cannot know, you should write yourself.
How to build a business card website with AI, step by step
- Open zugo.dev and sign in with Google, GitHub or email. Starter credits arrive straight away and no card is needed.
- Pick a route. If one of the ready-made designs fits, the build is cheaper because only the copy is written for you. If you want your own look, describe the page from scratch.
- Write the first message using the table: who you are, where, services with prices, contact details, and the one thing a visitor should do.
- Attach photos of your work or of yourself. The attached image becomes the hero image, so choose it on purpose.
- Wait for the build. The page is run and checked in a browser before it reaches you for review.
- Make edits in plain words: "move prices above reviews", "make the WhatsApp button green", "drop the about section".
- Publish. The page gets an address like your-name.zugo.run that you can send to clients immediately.
A first message that feels long is fine. Five facts in the prompt save three edits later. There is a separate guide on writing a good prompt for a site if you want the full method.
An example first message
Here is the kind of prompt that usually produces a usable page on the first pass:
"Business card website for a family law solicitor in Manchester. Focus: divorce, child arrangements, splitting property. First 30-minute call is free, fixed-fee packages after that from £450. 14 years of practice. Blocks: first screen with a photo and a Book a free call button, three areas of work, what happens in the first call, reviews, contact details with a map. Enquiry form: name, phone, a sentence about the situation. Calm tone, no legal jargon."
There is nothing about colours or fonts in it, and that is deliberate. The builder will propose a design, and changing the design with one edit is easier than adding a price you forgot to mention.
Where do enquiries from the form go?
Submissions from the form on a published page are stored with the project and emailed to you. You do not set up a server or wire in a third-party form service: this is part of Zugo Cloud, the backend that comes with every build. If an email goes missing, the enquiries are still readable inside the project.
For a business card site that is usually all you need. If enquiries pile up and you want statuses, follow-ups and a pipeline, you have moved past a business card and into a small app, which can be built separately.
How much does a business card website cost?
Credits are spent only when Zugo writes code. Opening a build, publishing it and connecting a service are free. According to the estimates on the pricing page, a site in a ready-made design where only the copy is written runs about 820 credits, a site built from scratch about 2,200, and a single edit about 980. These are averages measured on real builds, so a short edit costs less than a long one.
The free start gives 1,450 credits once, without a card. That covers a business card site in a ready-made design plus one edit, or one site from scratch. Publishing to a zugo.run address is included on the free plan too.
After that there is Pro: $25 a month with 20,000 credits every month. New members can get the first month of Pro for $5 within 12 hours of signing up. The full breakdown is in how much an AI website costs.
Does a business card website need its own domain?
Not at the start. An address like your-name.zugo.run opens for everyone, and you can put it in your Instagram bio, your email signature and a QR code on your printed cards.
A domain earns its place once the address goes on a van, a sign or a printed leaflet, where something short like smithplumbing.co.uk is easier to remember. Your own domain and hiding the "Made with Zugo" badge come with the paid plans. How to connect one, and what happens to existing links, is covered in can I use my own domain. One piece of advice on order: show the page to a few real clients first, then buy the domain.
Can the page be in two languages?
Yes. Ask for the second language as a separate edit once the first version is right, and have a native speaker read it before you publish. Machine translation of services and prices sometimes reads oddly, and on a one-page site there is nowhere for an awkward sentence to hide. What to check is covered in can AI build a site in my language.
What should you not expect from it?
A business card site does not bring clients by itself. It converts people who already arrived, and they arrive from ads, maps, social media and word of mouth. If nobody opens the page, the design is not the problem.
The builder also does not know your real prices, address or reviews. If you leave them out, it fills the gaps with plausible placeholders that are easy to miss. Before publishing, read the page top to bottom and replace anything you did not write yourself.
And it is not an online shop. Taking payment for dozens of products is a different job with a different budget.
How to check the page before you send it out
Open the published address on your own phone, because most visitors will arrive on one. Tap every button, send yourself a test enquiry, confirm the phone number dials with one tap and the map points to the right entrance. Five minutes of this costs less than losing the first client. The full list of what to look at on a small screen is in is the site mobile friendly.
In short
A business card website is one page that answers three questions: what you do, what it costs, how to reach you. An AI builder produces it from one detailed message, and your part is supplying the facts: prices, area, credentials, contacts, photos. In a ready-made design it runs about 820 credits, from scratch about 2,200, and the free start covers it. Publish to a zugo.run address, test it on real people, and connect a domain once the page starts bringing in enquiries.
